The Scrying Crow - February 2023
In this edition: Crow and the Vengeful Light Kickstarter, Art preview, and finches!
Hey, everyone! Firstly, I want to welcome all the new people to this small newsletter of mine. It’s not as frequent as I’d like it to be (maybe one day…?) but I do try and make posts with enough special behind-the-mind sauce in them that people find it fun to read. For instance, saying things like “behind-the-mind sauce” — what the hell does that even mean? *shakes head*
Oh! And I also like to take pictures of birds and post them every so often. Like this cute one I got of a little house finch in my backyard. I’ve recently started helping with a Rosy-Finch counting project, so keeping an eye out for finches is my jam atm.
Anyways, I hope you’ll find this newsletter helpful, insightful, and with enough weird threaded thoughts through out to keep you interested. Welcome!
Hunter’s Moon Kickstarter is done and soon will be available online to order!
My small comic book Hunter’s Moon that I launched in January was a massive success for me. I honestly went into it with a this-is-a-small-project-to-start-the-new-year-with attitude and it quickly blew my expectations out of the water. I can’t believe how many wonderful backers there were! And how many amazing little crows I got to draw and put out into the world!
Anyway, thank you so much to everyone that helped back that project and make it become a reality. I love the way the book turned out in print-form and I can’t wait to get it available for other people to enjoy too! Thank you!
ICYMI Crow and the Vengeful Light will finally be hitting Kickstarter next week and, oh man oh man, am I excited!
In case you missed the promo image…
Purdy, right? What’s it hinting at? Why is there a skull on the feather?? Also… is Vengeful Light going to be *gasp* in color?1!1!!
All these questions will be answered…soon.
Warden Comics and I have been working on this book now for just under two years, which blows my mind. This was the first book that Ludie and I have fully collaborated on from pitch to script to art to final book. I’m so incredibly happy with the story that Ludie has created for Vengeful Light and I think you too are going to really enjoy it!
In fact, how about a little script/art preview?
So much work goes into making comics. So. Much. Work.
And one day in a different post maybe I’ll talk more on that, but when comics are finished, it’s the best feeling in the world. Like eating pie topped with ice cream and sprinkles and hot sauce. You’ve made something that once was invisible and only in someone’s mind-palace now exist in a physical world to share with others.
I’ve also got some pretty sweet rewards that will come with this Kickstarter, including a beautiful variant cover edition by the amazing Elisa Miko!
It’s so magicallllll! I love it!
Now, I know you’re super excited and we’re still a few days away, but to show your excitement go over to the promotion page and hit that “notify me” button. This not only gives me an idea of how many other people are excited about Crow, but it also turns Kickstarter algorithms onto it!
As always, thank you for all the love of my books and art!
